Enable call blocking
iOS requires you to switch Nixring on once before it can block calls. It takes about 30 seconds:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap Apps, then Phone. (On older iOS versions this is Settings → Phone.)
- Tap Call Blocking & Identification.
- Turn on the switch next to Nixring.
- If it was already on, toggle it off and on again to refresh the blocklist.
Enable text (SMS) filtering
- Open Settings → Apps → Messages.
- Tap Unknown & Spam.
- Under SMS Filtering, select Nixring.
Filtered texts from unknown senders are moved to a separate Junk tab in Messages, and you won't get a notification for them.
Frequently asked questions
How does Nixring block spam?
Nixring hands iOS a list of known spam and scam numbers through Apple's Call Directory and Message Filter extensions. iOS then blocks matching calls and filters matching texts automatically. The app itself does not need to be running.
Nixring doesn't appear under Call Blocking & Identification.
Open the Nixring app once first so iOS can register the extension, then reboot your iPhone if it still isn't listed. The extension usually appears within a minute of first launch.
A spam call still got through. Why?
No blocklist can catch every number, because spammers rotate them constantly. Nixring blocks known offenders, and a brand new number may slip through until the list is updated. Toggling Nixring off and on under Call Blocking & Identification refreshes the list.
Will Nixring block my real contacts or important calls?
No. Nixring only blocks numbers on its spam blocklist. Numbers in your contacts and legitimate callers are unaffected.
Does Nixring send my data anywhere?
Never. Nixring runs 100% on-device with no accounts and no servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Manage your subscription
Nixring subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. To view, change, or cancel:
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Nixring to change your plan or cancel.
Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the current billing period. Refund requests are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
